Are you up to the challenge? Are you ready to lead? Do you want
to become a member of the Long Gray Line? Let us help convince you to rise
to the challenge.
The Citadel seeks to provide the best qualities of a military and disciplined environment to support the growth and development of character, physical fitness, and moral and ethical principles, thereby preparing its students to meet the requirements of citizens and especially of leaders. From the first year, with the Fourth Class System, through the senior year, the military environment requires additional duties and responsibilities not normally found on a college campus.
The military environment at The Citadel also attempts to draw out and cultivate
such values as truth, honor, integrity, and courage. Qualities of proper behavior
and etiquette are stressed, and excellence in military bearing and appearance
is taught. Whether in military or civilian life, the testimony of the value
of this institution in service to the nation, state, and local communities is
prominent.
If you are interested in joining the Corps of Cadets, please consult the requirements for incoming freshmen and transfer students. A five-step overview for admission is outlined on this web page (requirements, how to apply, securing your spot, fitness standards, and what to bring).
The Citadel gives consideration to all applicants who meet the personal, physical,
and educational requirements for admission to the Corps of Cadets. To provide
assistance with educational costs, scholarship
and financial aid information for cadets is also available on this web site.
