


The Gold Star Journal, which was founded in July 1996 by Dr. Suzanne Mabrouk (Chemistry Department), promotes academic excellence at The Citadel through the publication of cross-disciplinary, nonfiction papers. Selected works demonstrate effective writing, research skills, and critical thinking.
Over the years, the following departments have been represented in the journal: Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Education, English, History, Honors Program, Mathematics and Computer Science, Modern Languages, Political Science, and Psychology. One edition included a prize-winning essay written by a Truman Scholar.
The Gold Star Journal, which is printed by The Citadel Print Shop, is available in paper form only on Corps Day each year. To view the Table of Contents for any edition, select the appropriate link below.
Submissions
Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to submit original (not previously published), nonfiction papers, which were written for any course at The Citadel. Papers should be formatted in Microsoft Word and sent as an email attachment to gsj@citadel.edu.
Selection Criteria
All submissions are reviewed by the current editors for clarity, depth, originality, organization, and writing.
