1. The committee discussed and voted on the new computer recommendations of the subcommittee. The following was approved:
It is recommended that the following 21 faculty receive new computers (divided into those requesting a laptop and those requesting a desktop):
Desktop requested:
S. Adelman, Physics
H. Askins, EE
J. Bahk, Modern Language
R. Blanton, Chemistry
K. Brannan, CEE
K. Crawford, Chemistry
A. Darden, Biology
D. Fallon, CEE
K. Lassiter, Psychology
S. Lucas, English

M. Politano, Psychology
L. Zuraw, Chemistry
Laptop requested
N. Bell, Psychology
M. Britz, Pol. Sci.

I. Zahid, MCS
The following faculty will receive upgraded computers:
L. Calloway, English - would like a laptop, if possible
C. Cleaver, MCS
A. Katz, BA
J. Rhodes, English
The following recommendation was also made. If there is an extra recyclable computer, check to see if Mark Bebensee, BA is still interested. His application came in after the deadline, so we did not review it, but he currently has a relatively old computer and his needs may be met with an upgrade.
Another individual handed in a late application and I advised him to contact ITS to get more memory, since that would most likely take care of his computer problems.
2. Saul Adelman sent an e-mail to the committee to see if something could be done about excessive e-mails. We agreed that many individuals on campus might not be aware of e-mail protocols and the various lists that can be used to get information out to the campus without sending individual e-mail messages. Alix Darden will send out a public service e-mail, from the CSC, via Phoebe, reminding people about e-mail protocols and provide a link to a site that provides information about the various lists that can be used for campus mail. The Citadel ITS cannot do anything about SPAM that comes from off campus. Alix Darden will also talk with Patricia McArver about the possibility of an "announcements" webpage that is updated 1-2X daily, where people could check for information.
