1. Mandatory cadet PCs
The subcommittee (Fisher, Frame, Plemmons) presented their report and recommendation against requiring cadets to bring their own computer to school. (Summary attached.) The committee adopted the recommendation unanimously.
2. Technical support during off-hours.
A faculty member had requested extended technical support during holidays and other off-hours when faculty might need their computers for professional work. Debbie Fisher described the present practice of dealing with emergencies, and also the organizational problems arising from attempts to extend the support hours. The committee is satisfied with the present practice. (Unanimous.)
3. Simplification of Citadel login procedures.
Debbie Fisher submitted a table with presently used cadet and faculty/staff login procedures for different Citadel accounts (Novell network, DawgMail, library databases, WebCT, One-Stop etc.) and suggested some alignments. The committee applauds Debbie’s suggestions to simplify the login processes.
