THE CITADEL
FACULTY TENURE AND PROMOTION COMMITTEE
2002-2003
May 9, 2003
YEAR-END REPORT ON ACTIVITIES
The
only business conducted by the FTPC this year was that relating to
deliberations on candidates applying for tenure and/or promotion, of which there
were eight.
After
an organizational meeting in September, the FTPC held an open meeting with the
faculty in October 2002 to discuss policies and procedures relating to the
T&P process.
In
late 2002 and early 2003, the Chair coordinated the safekeeping and
distribution of materials to FTPC members and was liaison with the
Administration, the deans, the department heads, and the candidates on all
matters relating to the process.
In
February, the FTPC read candidates' dossiers and interviewed candidates. A vote
was then held by secret ballot, and there being no negative recommendations and
thus no requests for second reviews, the Chair forwarded the recommendations to
the Administration, who approved these recommendations.
All
business was finalized by spring break.
Respectfully
submitted,
Susan A. Simmons, Ph.D.
Professor of Business Administration
Chair of FTPC,
2002-20003
