- The Post 9/11 GI Bill, Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (Chapter 33) was recently signed into law. This new GI Bill will not go into effect until August of 2009. At this time, the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Dept. of Defense are working on definitive regulations and procedures. For more information, please visit the GI Bill website or Military.com.

There are benefits available to eligible Veteran's and / or dependents of Veterans. To find out if you qualify, check out the links below or contact the VA Coordinator at The Citadel.
All Chapter benefits require that you complete a Course Card (Request for VA Certification) after pre-registration each semester and return it to your VA Coordinator each time.
Chapter 1606 -- Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program
- First-time applicants must complete Form 22-1990 and NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility) issued by your unit.
- If you used these benefits at a prior institution, you need to complete Form 22-1995 (Change of Place or Program).
Chapter 1607 - Reserve Educational Assistance Program
- Please contact the Veterans' Coordinator for additional information.
Chapter 30 -- Veterans/Active Duty Members
- First-time applicants must complete Form 22-1990 and Member 4 of your DD-214.
- If you used these benefits at another institution, you must submit a Form 22-1995.
Chapter 35 -- Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance
- First-time applicants must submit Form 22-5490, birth certificate, DD-214 (of parent), and Letter of Eligibility.
- If you used these benfits at another institution, you need only submit Form 22-5495 and no other documentation.
