Born in Montvale, New Jersey, Joelle Neulander attended Tufts University for her B.A. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. Joelle writes on modern French cultural history and women's history. She is currently working on a manuscript entitled, "Broadcasting Morality: Family Values and the Radio in Interwar France." Her next project will focus on working-class women in pulp fiction and romance novels from the interwar and Vichy periods.

Dr. Neulander teaches French history, gender history, and the history of imperialism. She offers the introduction to history and historiography required for all majors. She also teaches both world and western civilization for the core curriculum. At the graduate level she has offered both a readings and a seminar in French and cultural history. She will also teach a course on the history of music and popular culture in modern Europe and America. (But only if pressured into it.)
