David L. Preston specializes in early American history and Native American history. He earned his B.A. from Mary Washington College in 1994, his M.A. from Mary Washington College in 1997, and his Ph.D. in 2002 from the College of William and Mary. He is currently revising his book manuscript, The Texture of Contact: European and Indian Settler Communities on the Iroquoian Borderlands, 1720-1780, for publication.

Dr. Preston's teaching interests include colonial North America, the American Revolution, Native American history, and frontier/western history. A former historian in the National Park Service, Dr. Preston also maintains an interest in public history and regularly teaches with historic sites.
