You won't see their famous silent drill but you will see their precision. Watch for the Summerall Guards in the
Inaugural Parade on Thursday afternoon. They should pass by the White House reviewing stand sometime between 3:45 and 4:15.
(Note the word "should." The timing largely depends on parade conditions.)
The Guards are part of the parade's Division 3 that will step onto the parade route at approximately 3:30 p.m. The division is led by the U.S. Navy Staff followed by the U.S. Navy Band and the Naval Academy in the No. 3 position. The Guards are 12th in the 22-unit lineup. They immediately follow the West Monroe High School Marching Band.
The Guards left for Washington on Tuesday afternoon and will be staying at
the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
Their participation in the Inaugural Parade is in large part due to the efforts
of the South Carolina Congressional
delegation that submitted a
jointly-signed letter to the Inaugural Committee.
The Guards
are just one of many Citadel connections to the Inaugural Parade.
LTC Bruce Alexander, Citadel Class of 1982,
is the chief of the external media division of the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee.

Alexander will be a busy man on Thursday. He will be working with 65 media escorts who are responsible for engineering coverage by more than 25,000 credentialed media from around the globe.
