The Angela W. Williams Student Success Center
The Student Success Center (SSC) was established in 1984. The Writing Center, as it was then known, had a staff of three. Since then, many more services and staff members have been added and support now extends far beyond the English department.
Through a commitment to the mission of The Citadel, the SSC’s mission is to aid students in their transition to college life and help them achieve individual academic success culminating in graduation.
The SSC is located on the first floor of Thompson Hall. It provides academic support to all Citadel students, both undergraduate and graduate, through the following programs:
- Athletic Academic Services
- Academic Coaching
- Mathematics Lab
- Services for Students with Disabilities
- Subject-Area Tutoring
- Writing Lab
The staff is comprised of professional tutors, graduate assistants, undergraduate students and full-time personnel. Visit the Appointments page to set up an appointment. Students may also set up an appointment by emailing the SSC at sscenter@citadel.edu, calling (843) 953-5305 or stopping by 117 Thompson Hall.
Individual tutorials in writing for academic projects across the curriculum are offered by the SSC. Individual and group subject-area tutorials are also available in most academic areas, including but not limited to Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language, History, Psychology and Business Administration. Learning strategies tutorials in areas such as study skills, time management and test-taking skills are also available.
