Are you ready to choose a college that stands apart from the rest? Located in historic Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel offers a distinguished military college education for young men and women with a strong emphasis on leadership excellence and academic distinction. Since 1842, The Citadel has been achieving excellence in the education of principled leaders who serve our nation, their states, and their communities.

Approximately 2,300 undergraduate students make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets at The Citadel. Although not required to serve in the military, about one-third of each class earn commissions to become officers in every branch of U.S. military service. Students within the Corps of Cadets can choose from 31 Majors, 57 Minors, pre-health professions, and pre-law (a concentration in political science). The 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio and 95% of faculty having PhD’s (or the highest degree offered in their discipline) guarantees students a quality education.

Join our close-knit community of approximately 2,300 undergraduate students. The men and women in the Corps live and study under a classical military system that makes leadership and character development an essential part of the educational experience. While military service is optional, about 1/3 of each graduating class earns military commissions across all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Learn more »
