David Berge is a Professor of Finance at the Baker School of Business. He comes to The Citadel with over 30 years of experience as an executive in the financial services sector, primarily as a corporate financial analyst. Most recently, Berge had served for over 20 years with Moody’s Ratings, a unit of Moody’s Corporation, as lead analyst responsible for several portfolios of corporate credit ratings in sectors including manufacturing, aerospace and defense, transportation and logistics, and business and consumer services.
In addition to portfolio duties, he led global analytical teams responsible for industry sector outlooks and topical reports as well as the development, publication and implementation of a number of “rating methodologies” that are foundational to the consistency of rating practices at Moody’s. He also played a leading role in the recent development and roll-out of Moody’s Environmental, Social and Governance scoring for non-financial corporate companies. Prior to Moody’s, Berge was an analyst in corporate treasury and banking roles in the ocean shipping industry. Professor Berge is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
