Cardon Crawford, Colonel USA (Ret)
Senior Vice President for Operations and Administration
Colonel Cardon Crawford is the senior vice president for operations and administration. He graduated from The Citadel in 1983. As the college’s senior vice president, Crawford is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the college and is the president’s senior staff representative to the college’s governing board. In addition, he coordinates the efforts of the vice presidents and senior staff in the planning and execution of the college’s operational efforts and strategic goals. He is also responsible for overseeing legislative efforts as well as alumni affairs, and he chairs the college’s crisis action staff committee. Prior to assuming his current duties, Crawford served as the director of legislative affairs and community engagement.
Crawford served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer and held various command and staff positions throughout his career. His operational assignments included the 1st Armored Division, the 24th Infantry Division, the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division and the 212th Field Artillery Brigade. His non-operational roles included assignments on the Presidential Inaugural Committee and the United States Military Academy and as well as the National Defense University where he served as executive assistant to the president.
Crawford deployed to both Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as the combined and joint director of operations for the Afghanistan theater of operations.
Crawford is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and holds a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the National War College.
