Non-Cadet Veteran Day Students at The Citadel
Non-Cadet Veteran Day Students are honorably discharged veterans who take in-person and/or online classes alongside the Corps of Cadets but are not part of the Corps.
An eligible non-cadet veteran is defined to be an individual who provides evidence through a DD 214 of honorable discharge from one of the Armed Services indicating a minimum of 90 consecutive days of full-time federal active service, other than active duty for training.
Program Overview
Veteran Day Students benefit from The Citadel’s structured, military-based academic environment while maintaining civilian status. Veterans are not subject to Corps of Cadets requirements, including military training, ROTC, or physical readiness (RPED).
Once enrolled at The Citadel, you will:
- Attend day classes alongside cadets
- Choose from Corps of Cadets majors and minors
- Live off-campus

Admission Requirements
To apply as a Veteran Day Student, applicants must meet the following standards:
- Academic High School Requirements: Veteran applicants must meet the academic standards outlined for the Corps of Cadets or provide proof of satisfactory college work if applying as transfer students.
- Academic Transfer Requirements: Qualified Veterans applying as transfer students must meet the transfer student admission requirements as outlined in the Transfer Student Admissions section.

Admissions Procedure
In order to be considered for admission as a veteran student at The Citadel, the following actions must be completed:
- Submit a complete Veteran’s Application for Admissions with a non-refundable $40 application fee.
- Request all high schools and colleges attended to send official transcripts (if high school was completed by GED test, submit a copy of the equivalency certificate).
- Request the College Entrance Examination Board (SAT) or the American College Testing Programs Assessment Exam (ACT) send to The Citadel, Office of Admissions latest SAT or ACT test scores.
- Submit DD Form 214
