Three routes to pursue a commission as an Army Lieutenant as a College of Charleston student
Active duty, the Army Reserve or the Army National Guard
1. Complete the basic Army ROTC courses (MLTY 101, 102, 201, 202) during your freshman and sophomore years and the advanced courses (MLTY 301, 302, 401, 402) junior and senior year. You can contract starting your sophomore year (@30 credit hours, depending on major).
2. If you did not complete the basic courses, you may attend “Basic Camp” the summer before your junior year of college (considering you have four full-time semesters remaining).
3. If you are already in the Army Reserve or National Guard and have completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, you can be exempted from MLTY 101, 102, 201, and 202 and start the Army ROTC program as late as your junior year (considering you have four full-time semesters remaining).
All contracted cadets will also be required to attend leadership labs, physical fitness training, and field training exercises in addition to the classes and will participate in Advanced Camp during the summer between junior and senior year.
