The Citadel Regimental Band is not just a parade band—it’s also the heart and soul of game day, igniting school spirit and energizing fans at both football and basketball games. Whether on the field or in the stands, the band’s performances set the tone for an unforgettable game day experience.
Football Games: Marching with Pride
On game days at Johnson Hagood Stadium, The Citadel Regimental Band takes center stage, creating an electric atmosphere for Bulldogs football. Before kickoff, the band performs a stirring pregame show, leading the cadets onto the field and performing fight songs and anthems that inspire both the team and the crowd. Throughout the game, the band keeps the energy high, playing fight songs, chants, and traditional tunes that encourage fans to cheer on the Bulldogs to victory.
Halftime is another opportunity for the band to shine, with dynamic field shows that feature intricate formations and exciting musical performances. The band’s presence is integral to the game day experience, infusing school spirit into every corner of the stadium.
Spring Basketball Game: Pumping Up the Crowd
The Citadel Regimental Band takes its place courtside, bringing the same energy and enthusiasm to McAlister Field House for one Spring Basketball game annually. During the spring basketball game, the band keeps the crowd engaged, performing lively tunes during breaks and timeouts that rally fans and energize the team.
Representing The Citadel, South Carolina and the United States, the Band displayed the highest level of professionalism and poise at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the world’s most renowned military music festival.
The Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes will proudly represent the United States for the fourth time as the country’s designated military band.
Regimental Band Director Lt. Col. Timothy Smith knew he wanted to compose something original for the band when inspiration struck – The Citadel was getting ready to celebrate 100 Years on the Ashley.
