Automatic Consideration for Band and Merit Scholarships

 

Audition Information


The Citadel Regimental Band

All auditioning musicians must complete the following:

  • Sight Reading: A brief sight-reading exercise will be provided during the audition.
  • Prepared Piece: Perform a selection such as an All-District etude or a standard instrumental solo.
  • Scales: Play four chromatically adjacent major scales (e.g., Bb, A, Ab, G – starting pitch of your choice) and a chromatic scale covering the instrument’s full range.

Percussionists: Prepare a standard rudimental snare solo to perform.

For those unable to audition in person, with permission from the Director, you may submit a video audition. The video should be a single take, featuring two contrasting pieces: one technical and one lyrical. Contact the Director for permission and further details.

The Citadel Pipes Band

The Citadel Regimental Pipe Band offers positions for all experience levels, from beginners to advanced pipers.

  • Beginner Pipers: No prior experience is necessary. The Citadel Regimental Pipe Band welcomes beginners eager to learn and develop their skills.
  • Experienced Pipers: Experienced pipers should submit a video of themselves performing for review. Videos should be sent to the Director of Piping.

The Director of Piping accepts a limited number of beginners each year. For details on how to apply and audition, please contact the Director of Piping.
