Dr. Patrice L. Capers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. She teaches general biology and a range of physiology courses. Her current research focuses on evaluating the quality of obesity-related research.
Dr. Capers graduated from Spelman College with a B.S. in Biology and Morehouse School of Medicine with her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and M.S. in Clinical Research. Her dissertation research focused on the nutritional complications of sickle cell disease. Her two postdoctoral positions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham provided instructions on teaching and the opportunity to develop and implement science programs and camps for K-12 teachers and students. All of these previous experiences allows Dr. Capers to create research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students while collaborating with other faculty on campus.
