Dr. Gustafson is a Professor of Plant Molecular Ecology, with research interests focusing on mechanisms structuring populations and communities. This avenue of research includes plant competition, plant-animal interactions, plant-soil feedback, ecotypic variation, genetic control of community assembly rules, spatial and conservation / population genetics. His research program incorporates traditional ecological field work with population / conservation genetics. Dr. Gustafson also teaches Ecology, Conservation Ecology, Biometry, Environmental Science, Plant Biology, General Biology, and team teach a course in Tropical Rainforest and Reef Ecology with Dr. John Zardus
