Dr. Quaas is an assistant professor of genetics. Her research utilizes a unique Xenopus laevis model system to explore different mechanisms of chromatin biology including transcription, replication, and repair. Specifically, Dr. Quaas studies how these mechanisms may go awry in relation to diseases such as cancer. Dr. Quaas’ research also explores the presence of mutagenic compounds in local waterway systems and their effects on DNA-templated processes. In addition to teaching genetics, Dr. Quaas also teaches molecular genetics and biology for non-majors.
