Dr. John Weinstein is the Associate Dean of Accreditation for the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics and a Professor of Physiology whose current research interests are in the area of aquatic toxicology. Dr. Weinstein has expertise in natural and anthropogenic stressor interactions, toxicokinetics, environmental chemistry, trophic transfer of contaminants, biomarkers, and risk assessment. Recent projects have included the occurrence, fate, and effects of plastics and microplastics in coastal waterways; UV-enhanced toxicity of aromatic hydrocarbons on a variety of salt marsh biota; non-target pesticide effects on shrimp and clams; and chemical contamination of coastal storm water detention ponds and suburban tidal creek systems.
