Background
While employed in manufacturing, health care, and real estate, Colonel Pinson has gained a wealth of knowledge about people, management, and finances. This knowledge has served him well in both the private and public sectors. For more than 26 years, he has served in an elected public office while continuing to work in private enterprises. Those offices include the Greenwood County Council (6 years), the Greenwood 50 School Board (10 years), and the South Carolina State House of Representatives for House District 13 (10 years). Assisting in budgetary decisions for Greenwood County, joining other school board members in deciding curriculum, personnel, and facilities decisions, and working with members of the General Assembly to adopt legislation for South Carolina have provided invaluable experiences for Colonel Pinson in preparation to become a member of The Citadel Board of Visitors. His years in the South Carolina National Guard, as well as his tenure as the Greenwood County Veterans Affairs Officer, inculcated in him a passion for honoring and protecting the United States of America. How fitting it is for him to return, as a member of the Board of Visitors, to the college that basically initiated that passion.
