Achieving the CADIC mission occurs in four functional areas:
- Services
Services are provided to meet the unique needs of an individual (this is called tailored prevention). Services include one-on-one meetings, in a private and confidential setting, utilizing best practice strategies (e.g., BASICS). - Programs
Programs are provided to meet the unique needs of a specific audience, group or cohort (this is called targeted prevention). Programs include small, highly interactive and self-reflective activities (e.g., CHOICES Program). - Events
Events are provided to promote a specific prevention message, idea or strategy across campus. Events include health fairs, speakers, mock simulations and participation in National prevention campaigns (e.g., National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week). - Outreach
Outreach “tabling activities” are provided to promote CADIC’s functional areas while simultaneously increasing health literacy in the areas of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and misuse. Outreach occurs at random times and at random locations on campus.
