Services are one-on-one meetings that utilize best practice strategies (e.g., BASICS, Choices) in a confidential setting.
- Alcohol Intervention
The alcohol intervention is a one-on-one meeting designed to reduce risk factors associated with the development of a substance use disorder. Upon request, individuals who complete the two-hour BASICS program will receive a “Certificate of Completion” upon request.
- Screening & Referrals
Screening and referral services include assessing a person for the risk of a substance use disorder and making referrals to The Citadel Counseling Center or other treatment providers if a substance use disorder is identified. Please note that neither screening nor referrals are intended to make or infer a diagnosis of any kind.
- Smoking Cessation
The smoking cessation intervention includes one or more meetings that assist individuals with thoughts and behaviors related to tobacco use. It may include referrals to the campus physician (or another physician) for a general physical exam and/or for pharmacological intervention (e.g., nicotine inhaler, Zyban).
Note: All intervention services are approached from a holistic (e.g., mind, body, spirit) and dimensional wellness approach (e.g., physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, career).
