Network Through LinkedIn!
LinkedIn is a great tool to kick off your professional brand and begin networking. We encourage ALL students to create a LinkedIn account and connect with everyone you know who could benefit from a professional capacity. Especially The Citadel network. LinkedIn is a free networking tool that can help you reach out to Citadel alumni, recruiters, hiring managers, previous employers or potential employers.
Once your LinkedIn account has been created, you need to build out your profile and start to Network through the site. See photos for specific needs on a profile. Additionally, you need to make 50 connections with people you know from The Citadel, home, family, friends, previous employers, supervisors, us at the Career Center, connect with anyone you may know who can help you achieve your ultimate goal.
Informational Interviews
The proactive approach to building your professional brand, networking and creating relationships is by talking with alumni, or individuals who are in the industry, company or position you are hoping for one day. Informational interviews can build the connections that can help you in your career further down the road or right out of college.
