- The use of AI must be documented. AI content without proper attribution or authorization is considered a form of plagiarism. The use of AI in any stage of your work’s creation must be explicitly disclosed and thoroughly documented. Failure to do so can be an honor violation.
- AI should help you think, but not think for you. AI should serve as a tool to assist and enhance your thought process rather than replacing it.
- You are responsible for your final product. AI is known to make mistakes. You are fully accountable for AI-generated content. Make sure you can attribute and source all facts so they can be verified.
- Engage ethically with AI. Evaluate your AI-generated outputs and consider any potential biases, limitations and ethical implications. Respect privacy, confidentiality, and intellectual property rights.
- Confidential or personal data should never be entered in generative AI tools. AI tools may expose data to third parties, lack confidentiality, and be vulnerable to data breaches.
- These guidelines are in effect unless your instructor gives you alternate guidelines. It is your responsibility to know and follow your instructor’s guidelines for AI use on each assignment.
