Colonel Oliver J. Bond, SCM (1908-1931)
Born in Marion, South Carolina in 1865, Oliver Bond graduated from The Citadel in 1886. He became Assistant Professor of Mathematics and later Professor of Mechanical Drawing and Astronomy at The Citadel.
In 1908, Colonel Bond was appointed Superintendent of The Citadel. The title changed in 1921 to President, and he served his newly named position until 1931.
After retirement, Colonel Bond remained at The Citadel as Dean of the College. He was the author of The Story of the Citadel, which covers the institution’s history from 1822 to 1932. Colonel Bond died in 1933.
