Discover The Citadel’s Auxiliary University Program (AUP)
The U.S. Coast Guard, one of America’s six armed forces and the only branch within the Department of Homeland Security, offers a unique path for students committed to serving our nation.
At The Citadel, we provide a distinct route for students pursuing a career in the U.S. Coast Guard through our Auxiliary University Program (AUP). While similar to ROTC, the AUP is tailored to the specific needs and opportunities within the Coast Guard. Upon graduating from the Corps of Cadets, you’ll be eligible for the Direct Commissioning Select School (DCSS), a streamlined 6-week program. This contrasts with the 17-week Officer Candidate School required at other institutions.
Though scholarships are not available through AUP, the program accelerates your Coast Guard career with specialized training at The Citadel.
