Incoming Cadets Medical Clearance
Getting accepted to The Citadel, signing your acceptance letter, and planning your move to Charleston can be hectic. Part of your planning must include medical clearance. The health of our cadets is of upmost importance at The Citadel.
Instructions for medical clearance will be emailed to the student AFTER they receive academic acceptance and completed their deposit. For more information, please contact MUSC Health at The Citadel directly at citadel@musc.edu or 843-953-4827
Medical clearance for an applicant to attend The Citadel is based on Department of Defense standards. However, we provide waivers automatically for some conditions. In some cases, medical clearance requires supplemental reports from attending physicians, surgeons, mental health professionals, etc. The additional documents determine whether the applicant meets the physical standards for admission to The Citadel.
A Medical Review Board will evaluate any Cadets who are not able to fully participate in cadet life because of a recurrence of a previous disorder. The Review Board will determine suitability to continue in the Corps of Cadets.
Students who are denied admission because of medical disqualification will receive a refund of any advance deposits. Failure to report previous medical illnesses or conditions will be grounds for termination of a cadet’s career, with forfeiture of appropriate tuition and fees.
Note: You will be medically disqualified after July 15th if we do not receive all necessary information on the Medical History and Physical Exam Forms,
