The support you need to succeed
The Citadel will not just challenge you as an individual. Here, you’ll face adversity shoulder-to-shoulder with your fellow Cadets. While it will be tough, you are surrounded by those going through it all with you. To support this unique environment, a number of important cadet resources are available to you before, during, and after your time on campus. These resources include the Citadel Success Institute (CSI), the Angela W. Williams Student Success Center, the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics, Study Abroad and the Career Center.
Before you arrive
The Citadel Success Institute
The Citadel Success Institute (CSI) is a summer transitional program at The Citadel. It helps students prepare for the incoming school year academically, physically, and socially.
“I highly recommend sending your incoming freshman to CSI. My daughter participated in CSI and when it was time for Matriculation, she felt excited rather than anxious. CSI is an excellent investment for cadets and parents alike!”

While you’re here
Angela W. Williams Student Success Center
The Angela W. Williams Student Success Center is a resource that aids you in your transition to college life. It helps you achieve academic success with the goal of graduation. Learning enhancement programs provide cadets a systematic and disciplined approach for processing assigned materials. The center also offers tutoring, math and writing labs and special services for freshmen and athletes.
The Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics
The Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics oversees a four-year leader development model which integrates leadership training into the Cadet curriculum and teaches cadets the value of integrity and moral character in everyday life. Visit the Facebook page for current information.
Study abroad
The Citadel recognizes the unique role study abroad plays in your academic experience and leadership development. International travel teaches cadets to be adaptable, culturally competent, critical thinkers and problem solvers. During recent pre-COVID years, more than 10% of cadets traveled to 20+ countries around the world where they participated in study abroad programs hosted by The Citadel. Visit the Office of Study Abroad page for more resources.
Success after The Citadel
The Citadel consistently reports well above national averages for placement outcomes. More than 80% of cadets report professional employment, military or graduate school acceptance at graduation, and more than 90% six months after graduation.
Career Center
The Citadel Career Center is a resource that educates and empowers cadets to become active participants in their professional success. Career planning and job search skills, like resume writing, interview techniques, and salary negotiation, are embedded into the Leadership Development Program. In addition to traditional career services like drop-in hours, career fairs, and weekly recruiting events, career education is integrated into many academic departments. Cadets explore careers and learn the importance of engaging early to develop multiple professional options.
