The Citadel Counseling Center provides assistance to students related to sexual assault prevention and response. Short term counseling is available for students who have concerns about any form of sexual misconduct, including relationship violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault. Services include emotional support, safety planning, consultation, and assistance with referrals using resources on campus and in the community.
On Campus Resources
The Citadel Counseling Center
Counselors are available to provide information about the options available to you, including confidential, individual counseling services. After office hours, cadets can go to the Infirmary and request to speak with a counselor. The Infirmary staff will contact a counselor as needed. Alternatively, students may call 911, go to a hospital emergency room, or call Citadel Public Safety at 843-953-5114.
CARE – Campus Advocacy, Response, and Education
CARE provides education to students, faculty, and staff members on all issues relating to sexual misconduct. CARE provides victim support and response services for each report of sexual harassment and sexual assault made by any student including information regarding options for:
- Medical Treatment
- Psychological Counseling
- Academic Accommodations
- Changing Living Arrangements
- Seeking Informal Mediation
- Filing Formal Discipline Charges
- Filing Criminal Charges
Citadel Ombudsperson
The Ombudsperson is a neutral, third party who helps cadets, CGC students, parents of students, faculty, and staff. The Ombudsperson is a resource for support and requesting informal mediation.
Citadel Public Safety
Public Safety can help you file a report of the incident or accompany you to file a report with the Charleston Police Department. Filing a report does not mean that you are obligated to press charges, but it facilitates the process if you choose to press charges in the future.
Human Affairs Team
Cadet leaders on the Human Affairs Team can provide information and referral to resources.
Murray Infirmary
The Infirmary staff will evaluate your medical needs and educate you about options for medical treatment, evidence collection, and access to other support services.
The Chaplain to the Corps of Cadets
The Chaplain and other Campus Pastors are resources for spiritual support.
