Bio
Dr. Renée Jefferson serves as a Professor in the Zucker Family School of Education. Prior to joining The Citadel, Dr. Jefferson taught in the College of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina and the School of Information at San José State University. A former academic librarian, Dr. Jefferson was Head of Reference Services at California State University, San Bernardino and Senior Assistant Librarian at California State University, Long Beach. She completed a four year internship in the Research and Statistics Division at American College Testing (ACT) in Iowa City, IA.
Dr. Jefferson received her B.S. in Statistics and master’s degree in Library and Information from the University of South Carolina, as well as Master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Measurement and Statistics from the Iowa Testing Program at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Jefferson teaches graduate courses in applied measurement techniques and data collection and analysis. She spent a semester teaching action research in the School of Information at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. Dr. Jefferson then developed experiential opportunities for education students to study abroad, taking them to Oxford University, Cambridge University, and the University of London. Her research interests include action research theory and applications, practitioner research, critical thinking, and virtual learning. Dr. Jefferson served as guest editor for the New Review of Academic Librarianship 2014 issue of Action Research: Theories and Applications published by Taylor & Francis.
