Bio
Dr. Guy Ilagan serves as a Professor in the Counselor Education program in The Citadel’s Zucker Family School of Education. Dr. Ilagan received his Ph.D. from Clemson University in Educational Leadership. His educational pursuits also include a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from College of Charleston. Dr. Ilagan is a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, as well as a National Board Certified Counselor.
Dr. Ilagan also provides training at both national and international levels to counselors on suicide prevention. His research interests include counselor effectiveness, wilderness experiences, and the mental health of college students. As well, he is an avid hiker, paddler, and cyclist. One of his proudest accomplishments was completing an end-to-end hike of the Appalachian Trail.
