Bio
Dr. Tara Hornor currently serves as a Professor in the Zucker Family School of Education with a joint appointment to The Citadel’s Department of Leadership Studies. She previously served as Associate Provost for Planning, Assessment, and Evaluation and Dean of Enrollment Management at The Citadel from 2008-2019, providing leadership for the institution’s strategic planning, accreditation, assessment, institutional research, admissions, financial aid, and graduate college offices.
Dr. Hornor’s experience prior to The Citadel includes federal government service as Director of Institutional Research and Outcomes Assessment and Director of Admissions for the National Intelligence University in Washington D.C. Dr. Hornor’s experience also includes service as Director of Career Services for the ACAP Army Higher Education Directorate in Ft. Huachuca, AZ and as Assistant Director of the Office of Undergraduate Student Services at the University of Central Florida where she managed admissions, advising, registration, and retention services for over 8,000 students.
Dr. Hornor holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arizona and master’s degrees in School Counseling, Instructional Design, and Human Resource Management. She is also a 2014 graduate of Harvard University’s Institute for Management and Leadership in Education (MLE) and a 2009 graduate of Harvard University’s Performance Assessment in Higher Education Institute.
Dr. Hornor’s research interests include the college choice process, enrollment management, strategic planning and assessment. She has delivered presentations related to these research interests at AAC&U, NASPA, ACPA, NACADA, CCME, NACAS, AMA, AACRAO, SVA, NCDA, SREB, AAHE, ACAD, NCGYE, SACSCOC, and MSCHE annual conferences.
