Criminal Justice Internship Program
The Internship Program for the Department of Criminal Justice allows students to receive academic credit for an internship with a criminal justice related agency. To get credit for an internship, students need to intern with a criminal justice related agency for a total of 80 hours (although most students do more) over the course of one semester (minimum 8 weeks), register for CRMJ 499, and complete the required academic assignments. The internship course is a 3-credit class (CRMJ 499) that students are able to do twice (either at the same agency or at a different criminal justice related agency) for a total of 6 credits (2 separate semesters). To accommodate students’ schedules, the internship course is offered during the following semesters: Fall, Spring, First Summer, Second Summer, or Full Summer. Usually this course will count as a Cluster A, but if you don’t need any more, then it will likely count as an elective.
