What is Project GO?
Project GO provides language and culture training to ROTC students from across the nation, funding domestic and overseas ROTC language programs and scholarships. At The Citadel, these include the summer programs in Charleston, South Carolina and Taipei, Taiwan.
Who can Apply?
In order to be eligible, at the time of application, applicants to ALL Project GO programs must be:
- U.S. citizens.
- An undergraduate or graduate student on track to commission through the Army, Naval, or Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), contracted or non-contracted, at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
- Marine Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) students are also eligible.
In addition, applicants for the program in Taiwan must:
- Remain in ROTC for the duration of the program.
- Not be commissioned officers.
- Be in an inactive, non-drilling status.
- Not be employed by the U.S. federal government or any foreign government.
If any of the following attributes apply to you, you are eligible to apply only for the program in Charleston:
- Newly commissioned officers awaiting active duty (limited to officers commissioned in May and interested in summer domestic programs).
- ROTC students who are drilling members of the National Guard or Reserves (Reserve component members who can be placed in a non-drilling status by their units may apply for programs abroad).
- Army Green to Gold members.
If any of the below attributes apply to you, you are unfortunately not eligible to apply for any Project GO programs:
- Non-U.S. citizens
- Active duty military members (not participating in ROTC)
- Navy Seaman to Admiral Program members
- Officer Candidate School participants
- JROTC students
- Service academy students
- Federal government employees
How do I Apply?
- Proceed to the online application and click ‘Create an Account.’
- Create an account by entering your first and last name, email address, and birthdate. You will then be emailed a PIN with instructions on how to log in and create a password.
- Once you have registered, the application will open to the Welcome Page. Please read this page carefully before clicking “Continue” at the bottom of the page. The application initially contains three sections on the left side of the screen: Welcome, Eligibility, and Review.
You may apply to both overseas and domestic programs in the same application. You may choose to either submit the complete application with all program selections (overseas and domestic) by the overseas application deadline, or you may submit the application with only the overseas program selections by the overseas program deadline, and then come back to the application to add or edit domestic program selections. You may add or edit domestic program selections as desired up until the domestic programs deadline. Information on how to add or edit domestic program selections to a submitted Project GO application can be found at the end of these instructions. All components of the application, including both recommendation forms, must be present by the application submission deadline in order for the application to be considered complete.
