What is Non-Degree Status?
Non-degree status are students who don’t intend to enroll in a degree program. These students may register for a limited number of courses as a non-degree status student and can apply for federal financial aid to receive a Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
Non-Degree Status and Federal Financial Aid
Federal financial aid regulations provide a Direct Unsubsidized Loan during a one-time preparatory coursework period. This is available to those who are provisionally accepted into a Citadel graduate degree program. However, Direct Unsubsidized Loans are generally available to undergraduate and graduate or professional degree students. These students must be approved by the Citadel Graduate College as Non-Degree Students in the Graduate College. You are not required to show financial need to receive the Loan. Once approved, students are provided three consecutive semesters to process up to $12,500 to complete their preparatory requirements while working toward full acceptance into their program.
Graduate Certificate Students do not qualify for federal financial student aid. However, in some cases, graduate and certificate program course requirements overlap for Non-Degree Students. In those cases, federal aid covers certificate coursework for Non-Degree Students during the preparatory period of three consecutive semesters in which they may process up to $12,500 in Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
