Fine Arts Minor
The minor in Fine Arts is intended to provide a complement to the major course of study through the development and application of relevant creative skills. Beginning with foundation courses in visual art and music, the student has the flexibility to choose advanced coursework that will round out their professional experience. For example, an Intelligence Studies major might choose to focus on Forensic Photography and 3D Media classes while a Biology student might focus more on Scientific Illustration and Drawing courses. Internships both on campus and in the larger arts community provide professional engagement using skills developed in the classroom, from graphic design to photography as well as arts administration of events and exhibitions.
The most popular minor on campus since its creation in 2014 with over 100 current minors, Fine Arts minor students receive additional mentoring and access to a wide range of opportunities from backstage tours to meetings with arts leaders. Graduates of this minor have continued to apply these skills in a variety of personal and professional contexts to become well-rounded advocates for this unexpected addition to a Citadel resume.
Fine Arts minors also earn the privilege of wearing the custom Fine Arts patch on their duty uniform, inspired by famous artistic references and designed by Fine Arts cadets and faculty.
