The Citadel’s Fine Arts Program
The mission of The Citadel’s Fine Arts program is to facilitate transformative experiences at the intersection of the arts, the military, and the community for principled leaders in all walks of life. Our courses also engage with many high-impact practices including experiential learning, culminating projects, collaborative critique, and research opportunities.
This mission is in full alignment with The Citadel’s overall mission, and recognized in the Our Mighty Citadel 2026 Strategic Plan through Initiative 2: Enhance the learning environment through academic programs of distinction and student success services.
Objective 2.1 is to invest in educational and interdisciplinary programs of distinction and centers of excellence. One of these actions is to enhance the Fine Arts program to include innovative enrichment experiences in new creative spaces on campus.

The Citadel has just snipped the ceremonial blue ribbon to open the new Capers Hall, which houses the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The previous building of the same name was demolished in 2021 to make way for the new one, which was designed by the architectural firm Woolpert.
The Citadel’s fine arts program and the South of Broadway Theater Company produced the play, directed by a Citadel alum turned acting coach.
