The Class of 1979 Leadership Day is an annual event focused on developing leadership in cadets at all levels of the leadership model: prepare, serve, lead, command. Instead of their regularly-scheduled classes, cadets participate by year in a variety of experiences led by The Citadel’s Krause Center for Leadership & Ethics.
For senior Fine Arts minors, the LDRS 411 Senior Leadership Integration Seminar is an off-campus, full-day professional development opportunity led by Prof. Silverman. To reflect upon the value of their character and leadership lessons learned at The Citadel, cadets engage with career professionals to discuss how they will apply their academic disciplines as an effective principled leader after graduation. Cadets consider their duty as Citadel graduates to make a positive, lasting impact in their workplaces and communities.
The Fine Arts Leadership Seminar is focused on discussions and backstage access with key artistic leaders of Charleston. Our partners have included the Gibbes Museum of Art, the Charleston Gaillard Center, the Charleston Museum, the Dock Street Theatre, the Halsey Gallery, the City of Charleston’s Mayor, and many more. These high-level conversations and behind-the-scenes tours allow cadets to receive practical perspective on a variety of career fields in the arts as well as gain perspective on the ethical leadership decisions these positions require.
