Honors Program Study Abroad Opportunities
Honors Program students are encouraged to pursue a study abroad opportunity. Working with the Citadel Study Abroad office, we assist Honors Program students in selecting a destination and applying for scholarships to help pay for this travel.
Many of the study abroad opportunities are during the summer. What could be better: seeing the world, expanding your horizons, AND getting some college credits or work experience during summer break?
Now cadets can also spend an entire semester abroad without negatively impacting progress toward their degree. The Citadel Study Abroad Global Studies program has grown over the years. Cadets enrolled in nearly every academic major at The Citadel are able to spend a semester over seas. Students can take courses relevant to their majors while paying nearly the same amount in a different country as they would pay for a semester at The Citadel. Students can also receive scholarships just as they can during the school year. In addition, students experience new places and cultures, make friends from around the world, and gain a global perspective – while earning credits towards your degree.
Students have previously studied, either in the summer or for entire semester, in China, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ecuador, Estonia, France, Guatemala, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Peru, Rwanda, Spain, Uganda, and the UK – just to name a few.
This video from recent Citadel Honors Program graduates summarizes the benefits and joys of the study abroad experience!
