Hours of Operation
The hours listed are for the regular academic year. Maymester and Summer School hours are more limited. The Infirmary will be closed with limited access to voicemail and email during all furlough times or when cadets are not on campus.
Virtual Urgent Care: Accessible 24/7 from your phone via the online portal.
Counseling Services: Available 0700- 1500, Monday- Friday, with some later afternoon appointments available.
Sick Call and In-Person Provider Visits (Physician and Nurse Practitioner): Available 0630- 1345, Monday- Friday
Nurses: Available 24/7 (please ring the bell after hours when doors are locked if you need to be seen.)
Medications: Delivered at 1300 and 1700 Monday – Friday. Pick-up is any time after delivery. (if prescriptions are not picked up in 48 hours, they will be returned to pharmacy).
Allergy Shots: Available Monday- Friday during provider hours
X-Rays: Available 0700- 1100, Monday- Friday
Electrocardiograms (EKG): Available 24/7 at Infirmary
Infirmary’s Administrative Office: Available 0830- 1630, Monday- Friday

Infirmary’s Administrative Office: The Citadel Infirmary’s Administration office (0830-1630 M-F) is available to assist all students with any questions regarding the medical standards for admission, medical forms, insurance information, and scheduling MUSC appointments. Please email inquiries to citadel@musc.edu. You may also leave a voicemail message or speak with a staff nurse during the school year, who can answer most questions.
Virtual Urgent Care: Accessible 24/7 from your phone via the online portal. This service is free for cadets when using a Citadel email and offers treatment for common acute conditions, respiratory infections, sexual health, and stomach problems. First-time users will need to create a new account with your citadel email and CWID.
Counseling Services: Counseling for personal mental health concerns and psychiatry services for medication evaluations and monitoring are provided through MUSC Health and The Citadel. For currently enrolled Citadel undergraduate and graduate students who can attend “in-person” appointments at the clinic. Learn more.
Medications: Whether ordered by the infirmary or an outside provider, medications can be sent to MUSC Ashley River Tower (ART) Pharmacy for courier delivery. Please note the following:
- Please have the provider indicate the patient is a Citadel cadet, or medications will not be delivered to the infirmary.
- Charges will be billed to insurance, and cadets are responsible for the remaining balance.
To make a payment, visit https://muschealth.org/patients-visitors/billing/payment-options. - Medication pick-up is any time after delivery (1300 & 1700 M-F). If prescriptions are not picked up within 48 hours, they will be returned to the pharmacy.
- A state or government-issued ID is required to pick up controlled substances.
- Over-the-counter medications are available at the cadet store.
Sick and In-person Provider Visits: with Physicians and Nurse Practitioners (0630- 1345 M-F), and Nurses (24/7).
Allergy Shots: Allergy serum is stored in a locked medication refrigerator; allergy shots are administered by a nurse, and cadets are monitored for allergic reactions following allergy injections. (M-F during provider hours).
Laboratory: Lab testing is available at the Infirmary. After specimens are collected, they are sent to the MUSC main lab for processing. The fee for a lab draw visit at the infirmary is covered; however, the testing of labs will be the cadet’s responsibility after insurance.
X-Rays: Extremity, chest, and abdominal films are available at the Infirmary. (0700- 1100 M-F)
Electrocardiograms (EKGs): available 24/7
Inpatient (Daytime and Overnight) Admissions: The Infirmary has 35 in-patient beds available for cadets who are ill, injured, or recovering from surgery. A small fee is charged to the citadel student account for linens, toiletries, etc. ($25 for daytime admissions and $30/night for overnight admissions, not covered by insurance).
Transportation: In an emergency, the Infirmary will call an ambulance to transport a cadet to the hospital. Transportation for doctor’s appointments and other routine matters can be obtained through POV, local taxis, or UBER at the cadet’s cost. There is a shuttle that goes from the Infirmary to downtown MUSC clinics on weekdays at no cost. See below for times and locations.
