Andy Berman is currently on detail from the Central Intelligence Agency’s Office of General Counsel (CIA/OGC) in a non-legal role as the Acting Director of the Office of the Under Secretary of Intelligence & Security Innovation and Data Office within the Department of Defense. Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Legal Advisor for the Center for Cyber Intelligence in the Central Intelligence Agency. He has served either as a chief legal advisor or component legal advisor to several of the CIA’s directorates, operational components, and mission centers during his 20+ years with CIA. In addition, Andy was also detailed from CIA/OGC to the Department of Justice’s Offiffice of Intelligence Policy & Review (now, DOJ’s National Security Division’s Office of Intelligence) as well as DNI’s Office of General Counsel.

Prior to coming to the Agency, Andy was an attorney with the law firm, Shaw Pittman LLP where he worked on the World Trade Center insurance litigation and then as counsel with Fannie Mae in its E-Commerce and High Technology practice group in Washington, DC.
Andy obtained his bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and then received his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and a Master of Science from Syracuse University School of Information Studies.
