Bio
Timothy Parker is a professional engineer who specializes in rigging and heavy transportation engineering. His main focus for the last 8 years has centered around the fossil fuel and nuclear power generation sector. He is President of Parker Rigging Company, Inc. and Principal of Parker Consulting Engineers, LLC., both of North Charleston, SC. He is also co-owner of two additional business in North Charleston. He has proudly served as a rigging engineering consultant for the CSS H.L. Hunley project since the early 2000’s.
Mr. Parker earned his BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The Citadel. He earned his MS in Technical Project Management from The Citadel with emphasis in structural engineering. He is currently enrolled at Clemson University working on a PhD in Structural Engineering.
As a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Construction Institute (CI) Crane Safety Committee, Parker works with other committee members compile, monitor, and review crane safety information on construction sites, including current and proposed ASCE policy, legislation, rules, regulations, court and arbitration decisions; and to define responsibilities of owners, general contractors, designers and their employees, relative to crane safety. He presented “Reviewing Lift Plans That Utilize Alternative Lifting Methods” to the CI Summit in March 2016. He is currently developing a learning series for ASCE entitled “Fundamentals of Mobile Crane Lift Plan Preparation” scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2017.
Mr. Parker has taught at The Citadel since 2010. He teaches in both the Department of Engineering Leadership and Program Management as well as in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
