Below are frequently asked questions regarding the Department of Leadership Studies. This includes general information, graduate student information, cadet information, ROTC Fulfillment and transfer credit.
General Information
What are your Department hours?
The Department of Leadership Studies is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM M-F during the academic year with the exception of holidays. During the Summer (May-August), we work a condensed work week and are open from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM M-R. Check the Department’s contact page for up-to-date department hours.
Where is your office located?
The Department of Leadership Studies main office is located in Bond Hall, Room 364.
How do I schedule a meeting with the Department Head?
To schedule a meeting with the Department Head, please email leadership@citadel.edu.
How do I pull my degree audit?

How does the wait list work?
- Wait listing occurs when a student registers for a course after it has reached capacity. Being waitlisted for a course does not mean you are registered for the course and will not affect your credit hour total until after you have registered.
- Will I be notified if a spot becomes available?
- If students sign up for a wait list and a spot becomes available, they will be notified via their Citadel email address and have 24 hours to register for the course.
Graduate Students
Are your graduate programs 100% online?
Yes, all classes in all three graduate programs are 100% online.
How do I apply for your program?
You can apply for the Master of Science in Leadership, Graduate Certificate in Leadership, and the Graduate Certificate in Military Leadership through the Graduate College. Click here for an application checklist.
How do I transition from a Leadership Certificate Program to the MS Leadership Program?
To transition from a Leadership Certificate program to the MS Leadership program, you will need to successfully complete the pre-approved courses and be in good academic standing.
After you have completed the pre-approved courses, you will need to apply for admission into the MSL program through the Citadel Graduate College. Please contact the department with any questions and for a waiver for the application fee.

How do I find who my advisor is?
Students can find this information in their student portal on Lesesne Gateway.
If you are only enrolled in Leadership Studies graduate programs, your advisor is Dr. Tracey Sigler.
How do I apply for graduation?
If you are graduating, congratulations! Eligible students can fill out the application here to apply for graduation. This ensures that you will receive your diploma within a few weeks of completing your program.
Can I attend Commencement?
Master’s students are eligible to attend; Certificate students are not.
Commencement is only held once a year in May. For more information, click here.
Transfer Credit
What is your transfer credit policy?

I completed my graduate degree more than 6 years ago. Can I still receive transfer credit for it?
Per Citadel policy, you may request that your graduate credits from 6 years or later be considered by filling out the Request to Accept Courses Beyond the Six-Year Limit form. Please submit it to leadershipstudies@citadel.edu for review.
What is the process to request transfer credit?
- To request transfer credit for graduate coursework, please submit:
- Transfer Credit Approval Form
- Corresponding syllabi and course descriptions for the courses taken
- Please note that the courses you are requesting must meet the following criteria:
- Only graduate credit hours in which grades of “B” or higher have been earned are transferable
- There must be significant and specific overlap between the course taken and the course for which you are seeking graduate credit
How long does the transfer credit review process take?
Typical transfer credit requests take 4-6 weeks. Occasionally, requests will take longer.
Cadets
Who all is required to take LDRS 371?
All upper-level (1B-2A) cadets (both contracted and non-contracted) are required to enroll in LDRS
371.
How do I add the Leadership Studies Minor?
Fill out the Add Minor Request Form and submit it to the Leadership Studies Office in Bond Hall.
How do I drop the Leadership Studies Minor?
Fill out the Request to Drop Minor Form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office in Bond Hall.
What classes are required for the Leadership Studies Minor?
All class requirements for the Leadership Studies Minor can be found here.
If I completed CSI during the summer, do I have to register for LDRS 101: First-Year Seminar in the fall?
No, the LDRS 101 course you completed during CSI counts for that requirement. You will still need to register for LDRS 111: Freshman Ethical Fitness Seminar in the spring.
ROTC Fulfillment
Do LDRS 211, 311, and 411 count towards ROTC Fulfillment?
LDRS 211-411 are facilitated through The Krause Center for Leadership & Ethics. These non-credit bearing experiences do not fall under Department of Leadership Studies and do not count towards ROTC Fulfillment.
Can I take more than one ROTC Fulfillment course during a semester?
No – only one approved ROTC Fulfillment course each term will count towards your ROTC Fulfillment requirement while you are in residency.
What classes count toward ROTC Fulfillment?
Go to our ROTC Fulfillment page for up-to-date information on the program and eligible courses for the current term. For specific questions, email us at leadership@citadel.edu.
All Leadership Studies Minor courses count towards ROTC Fulfillment.
Can I take an ROTC course instead of an ROTC Fulfillment course if I am not contracted?
No, you are required to take an ROTC Fulfillment course. Please email leadership@citadel.edu if you have more questions regarding this requirement.
My ROTC Fulfillment course is not showing up on my audit. Did it count?
Please contact leadership@citadel.edu if you take an ROTC Fulfillment course and it is not showing up on your audit under the ROTC Fulfillment section.
What is the process for a course to be approved for ROTC Fulfillment credit? *FACULTY ONLY*
Interested faculty will need to fill out the Proposal Form found on the ROTC Fulfillment webpage and submit it for review to leadership@citadel.edu.
