Bio:
Mei Q. Chen graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1983 with a B.S. in Computational Mathematics. She then went to University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana to work on her graduate programs in Mathematics. She obtained her M.S. in Applied Mathematics in 1985 and Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1989. In the same year, she joined the faculty of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (MACS) of The Citadel as an Assistant Professor. She was promoted to full professor in 2000 and became the Head of MACS in 2013. Dr. Chen has truly enjoyed teaching mathematics, doing research in matrix theory and numerical optimization, and working with students and faculty at The Citadel.
