Joined The Citadel Faculty: August 2020
Bio
Dr. Niksiar earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, where he worked on the fabrication and characterization of porous biomaterials with applications in tissue engineering, specifically artificial bone. After graduation, he joined Clemson University as a lecturer where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of aerospace, design and thermal fluid sciences. He was also an advisor for Clemson Rocket club. He earned his master’s from K. N. Toosi University of Technology in Iran, where he did numerical solution of fluid problems (CFD) on Graphic Processing Units (GPUs) and compared performance of different solvers on parallel computing platforms. Dr. Niksiar has published several peer-reviewed journal papers in the area of his research and has received grants from NASA and Citadel School of Engineering. He is also the founder and advisor of The Citadel Rocket club and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of thermal/fluid sciences, aerodynamics, design, materials, measurements, and numerical methods.
