Complete Your Nursing Degree at The Citadel
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at The Citadel provides the same rigorous nursing curriculum as offered to the Corps of Cadets. The program requires 60 credit hours of general education and nursing prerequisites, typically completed at another institution before transferring. Through a structured 2+2 Transfer Program, students begin their coursework at South Carolina technical colleges or other accredited institutions, completing the first two years before transferring to The Citadel to finish the final two years.
The Swain Department of Nursing is committed to preparing the next generation of nursing leaders by delivering a high-quality education that fosters exceptional patient care. Students can earn a BSN in a flexible, civilian classroom environment, with most coursework offered in the evenings.
Designed to accommodate students seeking flexibility, the program offers evening classes and clinical experiences, with some sessions held during the day or on Saturdays. The program is structured to enable full-time students to complete the upper division and receive a BSN in five semesters. It supports both Corps of Cadets and evening students, allowing all participants to graduate with a BSN. Tailored specifically for adult learners balancing work, family and other responsibilities, the program offers a steady and manageable pace to meet their needs.
