Any serious emergency involving fire or an imminent threat to life safety should be immediately reported to Charleston County Emergency Dispatch by dialing #911.
Immediately following the report to Charleston County, the emergency must be reported to Public Safety at (843) 953-5114.
In the event of an emergency requiring F&E action, phone calls should be made to the following numbers:

F&E Emergencies include: fire, electrical shorts, flooding from burst pipes or backed up drainage systems, leaking windows and roofs and those situations when additional damages will result if immediate repairs are not made. Non-emergencies include such events as: plumbing backups that do not result in overflow, plumbing that does not function when other facilities are available, lights that do not work and non functioning air conditioning.
The Citadel’s Director of Environmental Health and Safety should be notified anytime:
- There has been a fire anywhere on campus that required the use of firefighting equipment or fire department response to extinguish, or a fire that results in an injury.
- An emergency involving any hazardous material occurs.
- An accident or emergency resulting in significant property damage has occurred (in excess of $1,000).
- A serious accident requiring transport by EMS or a death has occurred
