McAlister Field House
McAlister Field House, originally constructed in 1939, houses the Department of Athletics. Formerly The Citadel Armory, it was named for Col. David S. McAlister, 1924, on March 16, 1973. With three basketball courts and seating for approximately 6,000, the field house provides facilities for the basketball program. Major renovations, completed during the summer of 1989, make this facility a showcase for basketball and other major campus and community events such as Commencement and the Greater Issues speaker series. In celebration of its 50th reunion, the Class of 1964 donated the large video scoreboard hanging above center court.
